What is Modern Day Slavery?

Our Commitment to Preventing Exploitation

Modern Day Slavery and exploitation are increasingly highlighted in the news. Indicators of such exploitation often include:

We are committed to ensuring that our colleagues are treated fairly and with respect. Our measures to prevent exploitation include:

Cramped and mixed-gender living conditions

Payment based on visits rather than hours worked

Long working hours, typically finishing late at night and starting early in the morning, most days of the week

No agreed working hours or working pattern

Excessive charges for essential items such as vehicles, rent and training

High fees imposed for joining or leaving employment

Not provided itemised payslip information

Threats of visa revocation

Removal from work schedules, preventing earning opportunities

Implementing a rolling shift pattern that ensures scheduled days off for all workers.

Paying employees for the duration between their start and finish times

If there are no visits we can offer within your shift, you’re still paid.

Ensuring no fees are charged for joining or leaving our employment.

Providing all colleagues with a platform to voice their concerns and opinions.

Treating all employees equally, regardless of contract type, race, religion, or beliefs.

We deeply value and appreciate the courageous decision of those who travel from abroad, leaving their families behind, to care for vulnerable citizens in the UK. To all overseas workers, we extend our heartfelt applause and gratitude.

We stand firm in our dedication to fostering a fair and supportive working environment for all our colleagues.

If you suspect exploitation or Modern Day Slavery, you should speak up. If you experience it, come and talk to someone. https://hopeforjustice.org/report-a-concern/
